Lord,
; b! k( t, H6 G& `having transformed' G3 J8 R7 C# ~8 h
sunshine and soil and water and seed,
$ w# u* {. k" P; M. Q; a) ]into food upon which we are soon to feed,
& ?6 K2 K4 c2 M {we thank you for life and we want to stay well, * i; W3 k" O. g) _
so we promise to rub our hands with Purell.; I: t+ I" h$ [1 r( S$ I/ X
We who came first and are ready to dine
: Q) u6 M& _7 \0 b2 M7 X2 pthank you that we’re not still waiting in line,
- U5 o* i% P' i* Cbut for those who are hungry and eagerly wait, d( H' M- M% D. U: W
we shall not be greedy and heap up our plate.! R) G- E1 B2 j- l
Instead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others + A5 i& q! y# k6 ~& q
the way we were taught by our own loving mothers.! X4 G0 f* g0 y) r5 _
Now,
8 o1 p% U) `$ XWe smell the potatoes all spicy and roasted
; ^7 L* \+ t. A1 r6 Dthe aroma of casseroles perfectly toasted
! y( z/ a' L5 A* X' N5 FWe thank you for people so generous and kind
* P }% C( `6 r, v6 mand thanks for all blessings in body and mind,
