having transformed1 N: s, m0 V: ^7 ~0 C
sunshine and soil and water and seed,
2 W% V. R( D" F0 a3 vinto food upon which we are soon to feed,
, r! u9 H( h) H! jwe thank you for life and we want to stay well,
. J$ n. r% s' P! e, p5 E2 eso we promise to rub our hands with Purell.
3 n6 L% Y3 i/ u7 G B0 S9 A( ^We who came first and are ready to dine
+ y7 L0 p/ j) o( Tthank you that we’re not still waiting in line,
& u) G+ ~6 l( {, q9 u5 d5 zbut for those who are hungry and eagerly wait, - Y3 l% k U5 _& o% d
we shall not be greedy and heap up our plate.. ~' c! [; r4 X+ r' O
Instead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others
* O5 x' g2 ~( w0 Uthe way we were taught by our own loving mothers.& F% e0 c, F4 Z. N
Now,! p# P& A% r, s" Z& \$ l. r
We smell the potatoes all spicy and roasted
j' n: a# F9 {. {) ~& vthe aroma of casseroles perfectly toasted
